Voters in the Penticton-Summerland riding have cast more than 6,200 ballots in the first two days of advance polling, according to Elections BC.

A total of 6,292 residents voted in the riding on Oct. 10 and 11, ahead of the 2024 provincial election.

That number represents more than half of the votes cast in the Penticton riding during the entire advance-voting phase in 2020, the last B.C. election (12,120).

Province-wide, a record number of people voted on the first day of advance polling in 2024.

Elections BC reported that 171,381 voters cast ballots on the first day of advance polling, up from the previous record of 126,491 in 2017.

Advance voting began on Oct. 10.

It continues on Oct. 12 and 13, and again next week on Oct. 15 and 16. Polling stations are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
