As of 7 a.m. on Monday, June 5, Ethel Street between Harvey Avenue and Sutherland Avenue will close to allow work on phase 3 of the Ethel Street Active Transportation Corridor to take place.
Saucier Avenue between Richter Street and Ethel Street will also close at the same time.
Other east-west cross streets within the construction zone, including Laurier, DeHart, Borden and Rowcliffe Avenues will be closed to through traffic. Alternate routes are available via Sutherland, Richter, Harvey, Gordon and Leon Avenues.
Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to detour due to uneven surfaces.
The $2.5-million project is expected to be completed by November. Improvements will include separated cycle tracks on both sides of the road, new sidewalks, landscaping, street lighting and utility improvements and extend the project from the two previously completed phases on Ethel north of Harvey Avenue.
As part of the work, an aging water and sewer main under Saucier Avenue will also be replaced.
