Penticton city officials are reminding the public that they do not send text messages for parking ticket payments, as concerns over an ongoing scam linger.

The city first warned of the scam Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” a scheme that involves people receiving text alerts over unpaid parking tickets Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” in September.

But on Wednesday, Nov. 6, the city again urged residents to be aware of the scam, calling the issue "ongoing."

"To be clear, the city will not send you a text message asking for payment," a public notice reads. "We will send you a letter on official letterhead ahead asking you to pay any unpaid tickets."

The city's initial warning earlier this fall came after bylaw services said it was receiving reports of a potential scam requesting payment for unpaid parking tickets via text.
