Over $9M in capital projects slated for 2025 in greater Vernon

A project at the Duteau Creek Water Treatment Plant is one of 27 projects listed in the Regional District of North Okanagan's preliminary capital budget for 2025.

The Regional District of North Okanagan's preliminary 2025 capital budget shows significant spending on infrastructure coming up next year. 

The preliminary budget was reviewed by the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee (GVAC) Wednesday, Nov. 6, and outlined 27 projects that are planned for 2025, coming in at a total cost of $9,126,863. Of that total, $1,240,396 would be carried forward from the 2024 operating reserve. 

The current revenue funding requirement for the 2025 capital budget is $7,860,000, up from $7,125,000 in 2024. 

The preliminary budget will be up for approval by GVAC at its Dec. 4 meeting. 

The 2025 capital projects are:

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Pipe main connections from the Foothills to the BX ($1,069,416)

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Kalamalka Lake Road and Pottery Road pipe abandonment ($228,467)

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Pipe replacement at 31st Street and 43rd Avenue ($84,435)

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ 27th Avenue Rail Crossing project to reduce hauling costs and operational issues from pick up delays ($307,540)

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Moving summer sludge storage area outside at Duteau Creek Water Treatment Plant ($285,000)

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Reservoir design ($206,150)

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Repairing Aberdeen Dam low level outlet design ($600,000)

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Phase two of replacing valves on Duteau transmission main ($500,000)

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Pipe replacement along 42nd Avenue ($1,423,125)
