Deer stuck on ice

While frigid temperatures mean for some, others don't always enjoy an icy surface.

On Jan. 5, Conservation officers were called out to a frozen section of Okanagan Lake in Vernon, after receiving a report of a mule deer in distress.

The deer was trapped on thin ice after it was unable to maintain traction on the slippery surface.

Two Conservation officers cautiously ventured out onto the ice along with a tin boat for safety and managed to bring the animal back to shore.

Uninjured, the deer scampered off.
