The recent rise in large scale wildfires has Armstrong and Spallumcheen preparing for the worse.
Both communities are hosting events centred around emergency preparedness and wildfire resiliency.
A free barbecue is aimed at attracting Spallumcheen residents out to an Emergency Preparedness and FireSmart open house Tuesday, April 8, at the municipal hall (4144 Spallumcheen Way) from 3 to 5 p.m.
"This event is a great opportunity for community members to learn more about emergency topics impacting Spallumcheen," the township said.
"With the recent rise in large scale wildfires, the township council has been working over the past three years to ensure Emergency Preparedness and FireSmarting is not only something we do but something to which we are committed."
Residents will be provided with valuable information about Emergency Preparedness and FireSmart opportunities taking place, learn how they can help during a wildfire or other emergency event, and how to take advantage of FireSmart rebates.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions, provide feedback and connect with council and staff.
The City of Armstrong is inviting residents to participate in a Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan information gathering session on Wednesday, April 9, from 3 to 7 p.m. at city hall, 3535 Bridge St.
As part of the FireSmart Program, Armstrong is seeking the community香蕉视频直播檚 input to help develop a Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan (CWRP).
"This plan will guide wildfire risk reduction efforts and support the implementation of FireSmart strategies throughout the community," the city said.
Residents are encouraged to share their experiences, concerns, and priorities related to wildfire risks and preparedness.
"Community feedback will play a key role in informing strategies to better protect Armstrong from the threat of wildfires," said the city.
