The RCMP and coroner attended a business in Mara regarding the report of a death, but say foul play is not suspected.

Just after 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, the Vernon-North Okangan RCMP responded to a business in the 7200 block of Highway 97A, with posts on Facebook saying that Mara Foodliner was closed with police and ambulance on site.

RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski confirmed the death, but didn't verify the business name.

"No criminality is suspected and the BC Coroners Service is conducting an independent investigation and concurrent fact-finding investigation into the person's death," he said in an email to the Observer, adding that "neither agency has additional information for release at this time."
