New fire chief for Kelowna

Deputy Chief Lou Wilde will become the Interim Fire Chief for the Kelowna.

Deputy Chief Lou Wilde will become the Interim Fire Chief for the Kelowna Fire Department March 3 following the retirement of Fire Chief Jeff Carlisle.

Deputy Chief Wilde has been with the Kelowna Fire Department for over 30 years and has served as a Chief Officer since 2003. More recently Deputy Chief Wilde has led the Fire Prevention, Training and Administration Branch.

Deputy Chief Wilde has a wealth of knowledge and experience in Kelowna including fire and emergency management. The interim transition until a new Fire Chief is determined will be seamless.

The recruitment process for a new Fire Chief has begun and it is anticipated that the new Fire Chief will be announced in the spring.
