Man found guilty of assault in bar fight

A judge has a found a Kelowna man guilty of aggravated assault following a lengthy court case.

Steve Kaplan and Kyle OÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™Brien were both charged with assault for their involvement in a 2014 bar fight outside Sapphire Nightclub.

The fight resulted in a fractured skull for Michael Martin, who spent two weeks in a coma following the incident.

Justice Allan Betton told the court neither man showed any indication of surprise or concern when Martin was seen lying on the pavement after one punch.

OÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™Brien, who was a bouncer at the night club at the time of the assault, was found guilty of a lesser offense of common assault, after Betton decided there was Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥˜no objective foresee-abilityÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™ of bodily harm for aggravated assault. He will be sentenced at a later date.

While Kaplan, will be sentenced on March 27.
