Highway 97 work slows traffic at Summerland hill slide site

A landslide in Summerland at Lakeshore Drive closed Highway 97 for sometime and then opened to single lane alternating. Now crews are repaving the southbound lanes. ((John Arendt - Summerland Review))

It will take more time traveling on Highway 97 past the Summerland Hill landslide site on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Transportation is re-paving the southbound lanes of Highway 97 between Lakeshore Drive South and Arkell Rd. for 1.5 km until Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 4 p.m.

Currently, the highway is down to single-lane traffic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect delays, said DriveBC.

Also, highway maintenance has northbound lanes between Penticton and Summerland down to one lane on Tuesday.
