The City of West Kelowna has announced the Gellatly Walkway will reopen in time for the long weekend.

The walkway has been closed since June 1 as the city conducted extensive repairs after the popular trail was damaged due to the historically-high Okanagan Lake level this spring, according to a city release.

Construction is now complete on the portion of the trail from Willow Beach, adjacent to the West Kelowna Yacht Club, to the CNR Wharf and the public is welcome to again take in the spectacular views this trail offers.

Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 8, the city will close the portion of the trail from CNR Wharf to Rotary Beach, including the trail adjacent to the Gellatly Dog Beach, to conduct repairs to this section of the walkway. Final compacting work will also occur on the Willow Beach to CNR Wharf portion Aug. 8 and 9, said the release.

Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 8, motorists may experience delays on Gellatly Road during this phase of construction.
