New engineering technician Rob Dayringer joins the District of Sicamous, where he's excited about the growth and development currently taking place.

Bringing with him a variety of experience, the District of Sicamous' new engineering technician was a 'ringer' for the job.

In a Dec. 9 media release, the district announced that local Rob Dayringer has joined the team as the new engineering tech and, with experience as a civil and mechanical technician, "brings fantastic knowledge to our operations and infrastructure department."

In his new role, Dayringer will oversee engineering services, including survey, design, inspection, cost estimating on capital projects and planning related to the district's infrastructure.

"Most of my civil engineering and design experience comes from my time in south Florida," he said in the release. "In my time there, I did a lot of mapping for the city, created site plans for a variety of commercial developments and was involved in some roadway and canal design."

In addition to his experience in the Sunshine State, Dayringer also put his expertise to use in a northern B.C. coal mine and as a mechanical engineering technologist in Salmon Arm. In explaining what drew him to this new role, he said he's excited about the growth and development currently taking place in the district, and the benefits those projects will bring to the community.

The location, he added, is also ideal.

"I have lived in Sicamous for about five years, and I am very fond of this community," Dayringer said. "I like the idea of being more involved in my community and the option to work closer to home."

Outside of work, he enjoys live music, watching football as an Ohio State Buckeyes fan, and the recreation SIcamous has to offer.

"I enjoy time spent on, near or in the water Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ fishing, boating and swimming are some of my favourite activities. I also enjoy playing disc golf, where I prefer to stay clear of the water," Dayringer joked.

For all things infrastructure and capital planning, residents can reach him at 250-836-2477 ext. 1122 or rdayringer@sicamous.ca.
