A quaint log house, nestled on Coldstream's Kalavista Drive, has reached the end of its life.
At the Monday, Aug. 12 Coldstream council meeting, council directed administration to begin the process of demolishing the house.
Previous flooding events on the property and home, which was built in 1951, have intensified structural building issues which included the finding of mould and the failing of the foundation.
The Regional District of North Okanagan purchased the property in 2011, rezoning it as a parkland. Coldstream acquired it in 2014. It is not a registered historical site.
The goal is to restore the property to a greenspace for 2025.
A budget for the demolition will be prepared and submitted at a future council meeting.
