Chef Jinhee Lee is the 2017 champion of Gold Medal Plates, held in Kelowna.
Representing Calgary, Lee the chef of Foreign Concept - alternative Asian dining, was paired with an Okanagan wine from the Bartier Bros. Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” a 2014 Gewürztraminer.
LeeÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s winning dish was titled Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥˜Cha Ca La VongÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™, turmeric fish mosaic with dill.
"I can't believe it, I am a little overwhelmed," said Lee. "I never thought when I became a chef this would happen."
Taking second place was OttawaÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Joe Thottungal of Coconut Lagoon, paired with a Prince Edward County, Ont. wine Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” Huff Estates Winery 2015 Riesling.
Eric Hanson, representing Edmonton, was given bronze. Hanson is the chef at Prairie Noodle Soup and was paired with the Okanagan's Gruner from Culmina Family Estate Winery.
