Metro Vancouver Transit Police have dismantled a major theft operation targeting Lululemon stores across the Lower Mainland, resulting in three arrests and the recovery of nearly $100,000 worth of stolen merchandise.

The investigation began in April when officers arrested a 39-year-old Vancouver man at Metrotown SkyTrain Station following a shoplifting incident. Further investigation revealed an organized theft ring that used Facebook Marketplace to sell stolen Lululemon items, with transactions occurring along the SkyTrain system.

On July 26, police executed a search warrant at a Burnaby residence, arresting two men and seizing over 800 stolen Lululemon items valued at $97,468, along with over $19,000 in cash.

"We are hopeful that a clear message has been sent to would-be criminals that attempting to conduct criminal activity along the transit system, or using public transit to further their criminal activities, will not be tolerated," Constable Amanda Steed said.

Tristen Shields, Lululemon's VP of Asset Protection, praised the partnership with law enforcement, highlighting the effectiveness of their advanced technology in combating retail crime.

Authorities urge the public to be cautious when purchasing discounted high-end products from third-party sellers online, as they may be stolen goods.
