A suspect in connection to an alleged assault outside a Penticton restaurant was arrested, RCMP confirmed.
On Dec. 22, at around 10:30 p.m., police say they responded to the assault near the 2400 block of Skaha Lake Road.
An investigation revealed that a 28-year-old man had been assaulted, resulting in serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was identified and arrested and released "on a police undertaking with conditions," RCMP said on Dec. 31.
Police did not confirm whether the arrest was in connection to the assault of Vincent Florence, however, the details match.
The 28-year-old Penticton resident was allegedly the victim of a random attack three days before Christmas on Skaha Lake Road.
Florence's family launched a fundraiser after he was in ICU at Penticton Regional Hospital and later taken to Kelowna's hospital to undergo brain surgery, as a result of the incident.
According to the fundraiser, Florence was struck on the head by the individual, leading to a fractured skull and internal bleeding to the brain.
Another person at the scene allegedly took his wallet after he was knocked to the ground, it added.
Close to $9,500 has been raised to help pay bills, rent, and groceries while Florence recovers, as of Dec. 31.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, with the RCMP having recommended criminal charges to the BC Prosecution Service.
Anyone with more information about the incident is asked to contact Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
