Kelowna sending biggest team ever to International Children's Games

The International Children's Games are being held in Leon, Mexico

With 24 athletes and six coaches, Kelowna is sending its largest team in history to the International Children's Games in Mexico.

Kelowna will have athletes competing in swimming, track and field, taekwondo, boys volleyball, and for the first time girls soccer.

Ava Kingsnorth, 13, plays both defence and winger on the soccer team. The athlete has participated in the sport since she was just a toddler.

When asked what she's most looking forward to, Kingsnorth said, "The experience, to meet new people, to share my skillset and learn from people around the world."

Team Kelowna was handed their jackets by Mayor Tom Dyas during a small media event in Stuart Park the afternoon of June 11.

The games are being held in Leon, Mexico from July 15-20.
