West Kelowna grants $116K to support local community groups in 2025

Council declined a request from the Westside Celebration Society for an additional $5,000 for 2025

West Kelowna council has approved $116,558 in cash grants for community groups in 2025.

The grants include funding for 17 organizations that received support last year, totalling $115,828. This year香蕉视频直播檚 requests total $109,558. Two new groups were added to the list. The Mount Boucherie School Robotics team, which was awarded $2,000, and the Autism Okanagan Association, which received $5,000. 

However, council declined a request from the Westside Celebration Society for an additional $5,000 beyond the $25,000 it has consistently received in recent years. Council cited the organization香蕉视频直播檚 volunteer turnover and a need for more clarity about its plans for the upcoming year.

Councillors Carol Zanon, Tasha Da Silva, and Rick de Jong joined the mayor in voting against the request.

The city received grant-in-aid applications totalling $213,210 for 2025 and $116,558 was approved.
