Rutland house fire deemed suspicious

UPDATE:

Crews were able to quickly knock down a second-storey fire at a home in Rutland, however, the blaze is considered suspicious.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene just before 9 a.m., Wednesday, to flame and smoke coming from a bedroom on the second floor at 780 Dougall Road South.

Residents managed to escape the flames and firefighters were able to rescue an iguana from inside.

Two cats living in the basement suite are unaccounted for, however, there was no fire damage to the downstairs unit.

Firefighters were seen removing burnt debris from the home, both via the window and the door.

There were no reports of any injuries to the public or fire crews.

The fire is currently under investigation as Clarke couldn香蕉视频直播檛 speak to why the incident was deemed suspicious.

Four engines, a rescue unit, a command unit, RCMP and FortisBC responded to the scene.

UPDATE: 9:14 a.m.

Gas and power has been shut off to 780 Dougall Road South, following a morning fire.

More than 20 firefighters are on scene alongside RCMP and FortisBC.

Residents were able to escape the flames and firefighters were able to rescue an iguana from inside.

Flames could be seen coming from a second-storey home at 780 Dougall Road South in Rutland, Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the scene just before 9 a.m.

Firefighters arrived to see visible flame and smoke coming from the roof of the house.

Residents were able to escape the home, however, there are reports two cats are trapped inside.

Firefighters are removing burnt debris from the home, both via the window and the door.

Dougall Road South is closed while emergency crews are on responding to the fire.
