February was a busy month for the RCMP's Proactive Enforcement Unit (PEU) in West Kelowna.
On Thursday, Feb. 13, the PEU executed a search warrant in the 2000 block of Horizon Drive in West Kelowna. The search stemmed from multiple break and enters that happened at businesses in both Kelowna and West Kelowna.
In the home, officers recovered stolen property from several businesses, including a stolen vehicle, fake license plates, and a loaded shotgun.
A 44-year-old man was arrested at the scene but later released. He is set to appear in court on May 19.
On Wednesday, Feb. 26, the PEU executed a search warrant on a storage locker in relation to another investigation. When opening the locker, officers found two motorcycles that were stolen in 2020 and 2024 respectively. The RCMP are continuing their investigation.
PEU then executed a search warrant at a home in the 600 block of Clifton Road on Wednesday, March 5.
Officers, with the assistance of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services, entered the home and located a 36-year-old man wanted on outstanding warrants related to violent offences in Kelowna. He was taken into custody.
The search also resulted in the seizure of three firearms.
