A prescribed burn is planned for Jack Seaton Park in Lake Country starting March 21.
BC Wildfire Service crews will be supporting the District of Lake Country and local firefighters with the burn if conditions are suitable and allow for smoke dispersal during burn operations.
However, smoke may linger in the area in the following days.
The district is asking that residents and visitors who regularly hike in the area stay off of the trails and marked fire services work zone in Jack Seaton Park.
Key goals of this prescribed burn include:
Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ returning a natural and necessary process to the land base
Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ removing forest fuels to reduce the long-term risk of wildfire
Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ provide cross-training opportunities between BCWS, the District of Lake Country and the Lake Country Fire Department
