Wagon stolen from Westbank museum and visitor centre

An antique luggage wagon that has been stationed outside of the Westbank Museum and Visitor Centre for a decade rolled away sometime between Monday night and the morning of Tuesday Nov. 5.

Jeremiah Ryder, the executive director of the not-for-profit museum is saddened by the loss of the wagon and hopes that it may be returned.

"I believe it was wheeled away," said Ryder.

The luggage wagon is about six feet by four feet in size and is made of wood. The two-wheeled wagon would have been used to cart luggage from boats on Okanagan Lake.

"This was an artifact. It was entrusted to us. When things are donated it is done in trust," said Ryder.

The theft took place just out of the frame of the Westbank Museum and adjacent Westbank RCMP detachment security cameras.

If people see the wagon or have any information that may aid in its recovery, contact the RCMP and reference file number #24-65416.

The museum has been subject to both theft and vandalism of smaller items in the past and Ryder said that it seems the frequency with which issues are happening is increasing.
