An operator has been named for the new temporary housing project at 3199 Appaloosa Road, in Kelowna.
BC Housing selected Connective, a social services non-profit that offers a range of programs including housing, employment, outreach, justice and community services.
With extensive experience supporting people to secure housing, Connective understands the importance of strong neighbourhood relationships for the success of its programs and participants.
The temporary housing site, Trailside, which opened in 2024 and is operated by Turning Points Collaborative Society, has supported 84 people with obtaining permanent housing, LifeSkills training, medical supports, and social integration.
The site is designed to provide people with the services and supports they need to transition out of homelessness and into permanent housing. According to the City of Kelowna, so far, 17 people have moved on to permanent housing including market housing, assisted living, supportive housing, and long-term substance use treatment programs.

In addition to roaming warming buses and ongoing outreach services, 37 shelter beds have been added as well as a new warming tent and stationary bus, operated by Kelowna Gospel Mission.
