Okanagan scorches 4th straight heat record

Kelowna and Vernon hit their fourth record-breaking day in a row

Another hot day, another heat record.

Several Okanagan communities broke weather records Wednesday, July 10 as the heat wave continued.

Kelowna and Vernon hit their fourth straight record-breaking day.

The temperature reached 40.3 degrees Celsius in Kelowna, scordhing the 2001 record of 37.2.

Vernon got up to 38.2, beating the 2021 record of 35.8.

Summerland was also a scorcher at 38, breaking a 1926 record of 37.2.

Revelstoke also broke it's 1926 record for the day of 36.1 as the mercury rose to 38.5.

Osoyoos reached 40.1, breaking the 1975 record of 39.4.

The heat warning remains in effect for the southern Interior as hot conditions continue towards the weekend.

"These warnings are expected to continue into the weekend," according to Environment Canada and Climate Change.
