The wildfire at Darke Lake Provincial Park south of Peachland is now held according to the BC Wildfire Service. The blaze has been knocked back to 0.5 hectares.

The BC Wildfire Service reports that a wildfire at Darke Lake Provincial Park, approximately 15 kilometres south of Peachland, is being held. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

A new wildfire sparked between Peachland and Summerland on July 24 at Darke Lake Provincial Park.

The fire, which was reported shortly after 5 p.m., is approximately one hectare and burning out of control. It's expected to grow beyond its current perimeter. 

Cali Nessman, Information Officer with the BC Wildfire Service confirmed that two initial attack crews and one fire response officer were assigned to the blaze when it was first spotter. 

Two helicopters and one air-tanker were also deployed to the fire which is about 15 kilometres south of Peachland. 

However, due to windy conditions fire retardant being dropped by the tanker was not effective and it was called off, Nessman said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no structures are threatened at this time.

There are no current evacuation orders or alerts.
