New tipping fees for some items at the Glenmore Landfill take effect on Jan. 1, 2025.
Changes include:
Garbage increasing from $104 to $106 per tonne.
Gypsum drywall increasing from $175 to $200 per tonne.
Clean concrete and asphalt increasing from $25 to $50 per tonne.
Dirty concrete increasing from $25 to $70 per tonne.
Asbestos increasing from $250 to $275 per tonne.
Culled cherries increasing from $16.57 to $25 per tonne.
Recycled concrete and recycled asphalt will now be sold for $8 per tonne plus applicable tax.
A City of Kelowna media release says the increases reflect inflation, increased grinding and hauling costs, and higher tipping fees at recovery locations.
City council approved changes to the Solid Waste Management Bylaw on Monday, Oct. 28.
