Lake Country council's Dec. 17 meeting includes consideration to rezone properties for housing developments and a major project at the OÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™Rourke Family Vineyard.

Council will consider a zoning amendment for the old Airport Inn property at 11474 Petrie Road. The rezoning would change a portion of the property from small-scale multiple housing low-density row housing.

Conditions for the amendment include a rental housing agreement, and a road dedication. The proposed development would create row housing buildings intended for rental use. In September, Calgary-based Eagle Crest Construction unveiled plans for a four-building, 364-rental-unit development for the property.

Plans for a significant  in the CarrÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Landing area are up for second reading to rezoning and amendments to the Official Community Plan. The project proposes a large-scale vineyard and winery, along with an amphitheatre, event centre, restaurants, tourist accommodations, and residential units. A public information session about the development is scheduled for Dec. 17 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Peak Cellars, 2290 Goldie Road. The district will schedule a public hearing a future date.

Rezoning connected to the Highstreet development at 3551 and 3583 Woodsdale Road will also be considered. The project proposes three, four-storey multi-family residential buildings. To support the rezoning, staff recommend securing a road dedication along the northern boundaries of the properties, aligning with the road layout of the adjacent property, as well as a covenant for infrastructure improvements and pedestrian safety.

Council will look at plans to rezone two properties, 3223 Woodsdale Road and 11437 Bottom Wood Lake Road, to the Official Community Plan (OCP). The OCP restricts commercial growth in the Woodsdale area to neighbourhood commercial, service commercial, and tourist commercial uses. The rezoning (Comprehensive Development) would make it consistent with the OCP, a staff report states.
