Brief flames prompt fire response at Kelowna's Orchard Park

There are currently five fire trucks on scene.

An electrical issue at Kelowna's Orchard Park Mall caused a brief closure of two stores.

The Kelowna Fire Department responded with 27 personnel around 4 p.m. in front of the Indigo store for reports of flames coming from an exterior light.

The first crews on scene reported no visible smoke or flame.

The breaker tripped cutting power to the light.

"The heat is dissipating, and nothing spread to the building, so it is all safe," said fire platoon captain Scott Clarke. "There was no evacuation, and once we got on scene and saw that it wasn't on fire, we were happy that the mall alarm didn't go off."

The mall remained open during the incident.
