Suspicious item discovered near Kelowna Fire Hall not an explosive

Traffic is being rerouted from the area as officers set up police tape at Dilworth Inn

UPDATE: 10:45 a.m.

A suspicious item discovered in the area of Kelowna香蕉视频直播檚 Fire Station 1, caused police to shut down Enterprise way from Dilworth Drive to just passed the hall, Friday morning.

RCMP were seen blocked off the road at about 8:50 a.m. after receiving a report from the fire department of a suspicious item near the station.

Sgt. Laura Pollock said that the item was determined not to be an explosive device after the RCMP香蕉视频直播檚 Explosive Demolition Unit was consulted and Police Dog Services attended.

The road will remain closed for a short period of time in order for the investigation to be complete.

Multiple RCMP vehicles are blocking Enterprise Way and Dilworth Drive in Kelowna on Friday.

Police were seen blocking the road just before 9 a.m. Traffic is being rerouted onto Dilworth Drive, toward Leckie Road, and toward Highway 97.

Officers could be seen setting up police tape at the Dilworth Inn.

Several police vehicles remain on scene, as of 9:30 a.m.

At least four fire trucks were seen leaving Fire Station 1, just before 10 a.m., for what might be a safety precaution.
