Kelowna man arrested after Vernon knife incident

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to a report of a man with a knife, allegedly threatening staff, at a Vernon supermarket Wednesday, Nov. 20, shortly before 9 p.m. A 34-year-old Kelowna man was arrested inside the store and was taken into custody.

A Kelowna man was taken into Vernon North Okanagan RCMP custody after allegedly threatening staff inside a Vernon supermarket Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Police were dispatched shortly before 9 p.m. to a report of a person inside a business in the 5000 Block of Anderson Way who was in possession of a knife.

"Officers responded to the location where they found the suspect in the back of the store," said Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media liaison officer Const. Chris Terleski.

"He was arrested and safely taken into custody."

The 34-year-old man was expected to appear in Provincial Court Thursday, Nov. 21.
