Celebrating one year in business, the Move Well Caf茅, at 1019 Richter St. in Kelowna's North End, opened last year as a fun addition to its parent company Orthoquest. Owned and operated by Lise and Sean MacMillan, their mission has been to create a space where people can meet, connect and move together. It was born out of a passion for movement and the love for coffee by both Lise and Sean. Their coffee is made from beans roasted by local Giobean and the menu offers health-conscious treats from like-minded companies including Meal Pro for You and Big Fat Lion. They also offer fresh smoothies, Motherlove kombucha, Stoke juice and Chaibaba tea. One of the most exciting aspects of Move Well Cafe is their mindful movement studio. They offer intimate group reformer Pilates classes, yoga, mat Pilates, mobility, strength and conditioning classes and Bellyfit. Their coached run group meet every Tuesday and Thursday, helping runners run smarter, not harder. They will celebrate their opening anniversary Aug. 24.

The Barbie Ross Service Award has been established at KGH. After over 30 years of service to KGH, Barbie Ross died last year. She was a leader, friend and an inspiration. Barbie began her tenure as a KGH volunteer in the early 1990s, when she was on the founding committee for the KGH Foundation Heart of Gold Gala. After her stint on the board, she signed on to support the build of a gift shop, the Centennial Mercantile, which opened in 2012, and she stayed on as a volunteer buyer for over a decade until her passing. The Barbie Ross Service Award has been established to recognize and acknowledge a KGH Foundation volunteer. The recipient is announced at the annual Volunteer Gala. For 2023, the first award was given to Henk de Roos a 20-year volunteer at the KGH Gift Shop.
