The Animal Food Bank is helping families prepare for emergencies with the Pet Emergency Readiness Campaign.
AFB aims to educate pet owners on the importance of having emergency kits for pets of all kinds and has prepared Pet Evac Packs for families to purchase.
A kit comes with items such as a collapsible pet bowl, a document pouch, safety card, emergency water pouches, first aid kit, and a backpack to carry it all in. There are kits tailored to both dog and cat owners.
For each Pet Evac Pack sold, a $20 donation will go toward the AFBÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Emergency Pet Fund, ensuring all pets are taken care of when disaster strikes.
AFB started in Kelowna in 2019 by Nicole Frey. She has since expanded the organizations efforts to support pets and their families across the country and around the world, with the main operations based in Western Canada.
