Vehicle fire doused by good samaritans on Kelowna highway

The fire was reported around 7:30 a.m.

A vehicle fire was quickly extinguished on Highway 97 in Kelowna Friday morning (Oct. 4).

Around 7:30 a.m., a Jeep pulled over partially onto the sidewalk northbound on the highway close to Leathead Road because of smoke coming from the vehicle. A close-by truck with a two people in it stopped and helped douse the blaze with a fire extinguisher. 

The Kelowna Fire Department and the RCMP attended the scene.

No one was injured.

Traffic northbound on the highway isn't impeded by the incident.
