A shooting that left a person with serious injuries is what prompted a heavy police presence and investigation in the Harwood area of Vernon Wednesday, April 16, and though police say there is no immediate risk to the public, no arrests have been made.
Police received a report of a shooting in the 4000 block of 25th Street at about 11:40 a.m., the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said in a media release Wednesday afternoon.
A large police response and multiple BC Highway Patrol officers converged on the area.
One person was transported from the scene with serious injuries, according to police.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are on-scene in the 4000 block of 25th Street in Vernon's Harwood area for an unspecified incident.
Social media reports suggest a possible shooting.
A Morning Star reporter is near the scene on 25th Street near 41st Avenue. The canine unit has been deployed with an RCMP dog walking along the perimeter of the property.
Police blocked off 25th Street on either side, from 39A to 43rd Avenue. Those blockades were lifted around 1:30 p.m., but police tape is blocking off about half a block of 25th Street around the property.
There are at least a half-dozen police vehicles with lights flashing. A paramedic vehicle is also on-scene.
Bystanders have told the reporter that there are reports of shots heard.
One witness said they saw three ambulances here and a number of police cruisers around 12:15 p.m.
Police could be seen canvassing in the area, knocking on doors and speaking to neighbours around 1 p.m.
