Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are on-scene in the 4000 block of 25th Street in Vernon's Harwood area for an unspecified incident.

Social media reports suggest a possible shooting.

A Morning Star reporter is near the scene on 25th Street near 41st Avenue. The canine unit has been deployed with an RCMP dog walking along the perimeter of the property.

Police blocked off 25th Street on either side, from 39A to 43rd Avenue. Those blockades were lifted around 1:30 p.m., but police tape is blocking off about half a block of 25th Street around the property.

There are at least a half-dozen police vehicles with lights flashing. A paramedic vehicle is also on-scene.

Bystanders have told the reporter that there are reports of shots heard.

One witness said they saw three ambulances here and a number of police cruisers around 12:15 p.m.

Police could be seen canvassing in the area, knocking on doors and speaking to neighbours around 1 p.m.

The Morning Star has reached out to the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP for details.

More to come.
