UPDATE: Commercial vehicle strikes pedestrian in Kelowna's Rutland

Kelowna RCMP are on scene at Rutland and Hartman Road the afternoon of Dec. 5, 2024.

Update 3:45 p.m.

Kelowna RCMP confirmed one person was taken to hospital after being struck by a commercial vehicle at Rutland Road N and Hartman Road. 

The collision happened in the early afternoon of Dec. 5. 

The pedestrian was taken to hospital in stable condition. 

Original 2 p.m.

Multiple Kelowna RCMP vehicles are present on Rutland Road and have blocked southbound traffic between McCurdy and Hartman roads. 

It appears a waste management vehicle was stopped by police. 

A Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement officer is also on scene. 

The reason for police presence has not been determined at this time.
