Scott Anderson has been chosen by local Conservative Party of Canada members to represent the region if an election is called.
The former Vernon city councillor was voted in on Sunday, March 16.
He will be the Conservative option for the new Vernon-Lake Country-Monashee riding in the next federal election.
"I am deeply honoured to be representing you and I vow to work hard to become our next MP," Anderson said.
Along with his political background, Anderson is local business owner.
The vote was between Anderson, current Vernon city councillor Teresa Durning, Vernon business-owner Rachel Enns and Kelowna radio co-host Toby Tannas.
