A West Kelowna liquor store has been handed a $7,000 fine for selling alcohol to a minor.
Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) documents alleged the minor was sold a six-pack of cider by a clerk at Grey Sage Liquor on Sept. 26, 2023.
The enforcement was carried out under the Minors As Agents Program (MAP) which employs individuals under the age of 19 to assist the LCRB in conducting liquor inspections.

Evidence presented to the LCRB general manager noted that the store owner did not provide any proof that steps had been taken to prevent the sale of liquor to minors.
Documents also showed that there is no record of the store selling liquor to a minor in the past 24 months.
The LCRB general manager found the Sept. 26, 2023 incident to be a first contravention and assessed the $7,000 fine.
This is the third company to receive a fine in the past week for selling to a minor.
