Power has been restored to residences on Tronson Road in Vernon.

UPDATE:

Power outages on Westside Road and Lake Country have been restored.

But nearly 2,000 Vernon residents remain in the dark in the Beachcomber Bay area.

BC Hydro crews are on scene at the Tronson Road incident where a bird hit the wires. Hydro estimates power will not be restored until 8:30 p.m.

Thousands of Okanagan residents are without power Monday, due to separate outages.

In Vernon, there are 1,925 people in the Tronson Road area without power due to a bird hitting the wires. Okanagan Landing Road is closed around the incident, with traffic being diverted through Scott Road. Traffic is also closed at Palmer Road. 

Lights went out for a couple hours just before 2 p.m. for more than 3,400 BC Hydro customers in Lake Country and across Okanagan Lake in the Fintry area. A bird contacting the wires is the suspected cause. The power was restored around 4:30 p.m.

Shortly after 2 p.m. power was cut to 3,263 properties north of Killiney Beach and in Spallumcheen near Vernon. A crew is on site and the cause is under investigation. The outage was updated around 4:30 p.m. to reflect that is now only impacting 1,282 properties and is not impacting Spallumcheen residents. The outage is on Westside Road between Killiney Beach and south of Abel Cove Road.
