Old man winter is showing he's not quite done this season yet, despite the first day of spring being a week away.
On Thursday morning (March 13), Environment Canada issued snowfall warnings to three Okanagan highways:
- Coquihalla Highway - Hope to Merritt;
- Okanagan Connector - Merritt to Kelowna;
- Trans-Canada Highway - Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.
All three stretches are expecting up to 15 cm of snow throughout the day, which is expected to tapper off this afternoon or early evening.
"A low pressure system passing through southeastern B.C. today is bringing snow to the region," stated Environment Canada. "Snowfall will intensify as the low approaches by this morning and should ease this evening as the low departs."
The heavy snow could cause slippery conditions on the highways, and affect visibility, making it harder for drivers trying to travel on Thursday.
