2 Kelowna runners named to Team Canada for Paris Olympics

Two Kelowna-raised athletes headed to Paris to run in the Olympics

The small city of Kelowna has officially produced two of Canada's fastest athletes, as both Malindi Elmore and Jerome Blake have been named to the Paris Olympic team.

On July 2, Athletics Canada Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ the national governing body for Track and Field and road racing Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ announced the list of 48 athletes that will be donning the maple leaf in Paris this August.

Marathon runner and former track star Elmore will be racing in her third Olympic Games at age 44. She hopes to achieve a top ten finish and use the notoriety gained from her success to raise money for KidSport BC, an organization that removes financial barriers, "so that all kids can play."
Blake will be joining the 4x100m relay team, made up of four of Canada's fastest 100 meter male athletes.
