Kelowna restaurant celebrates 1 year by giving back

Norman's Diner raised over $1,000 for the Central Okanagan Food Bank

Norman's Diner in Kelowna's Rutland treated patrons on July 27 and 28 as the restaurant celebrated one year in business.

The diner celebrated with live music, food and beverage deals and the chance for a lucky customer to win free coffee for a year.

General Manager Daniel Joseph said he's worked in a lot of kitchens over the years and Norman's is one of his favourites.

"Every week that I've been here we are a couple points ahead," Joseph said. "There's so much potential to grow this business."

The locally owned restaurant is the second of its kind. The first Norman's Diner was opened in Lake Country in 2019 by Anne Stewart and named after her grandfather. Stewart also owns Diner on 6 in Vernon.

The diner used the anniversary to give back to the community. Norman's Diner collected non-perishable food and cash donations to support the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

"Not only is that a great partnership, but it's right in our wheelhouse. Food is what we do," Joseph said. The restaurant reached its goal of raising $1,000 on the first day of celebrations, not including food donations.

Check out Norman's Diner on Hollywood Road North in Kelowna seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
