Actors gathered around and submerged in a pool of water will play out the the myths of Ovid.
VSS Theatre on the Hill presents Metamorphoses, a play by Mary Zimmerman, Jan. 14, 16 and 17.
"The pool is actually an important part of the play," says drama teacher Laurie Anne Lorge. "The reflective nature of water and its transformative effects are among the play's major themes."
The play depicts seven myths and places both ancient words and imagery next to more contemporary ideas.
"Working on this play has shown both me and the students the role myth and story plays in our lives. It teaches us what it means to be human - and that we struggle with the same problems."
Metamorphoses runs Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at VSS Theatre on the Hill at 7:30 p.m.
