Art is taking a new shape at Silver Star.
Vernon's ski hill will see five local artists use helmets as their canvas for an Art On the Dome fundraiser.
Presented by the ArtistsÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™ Lounge Gallery and Gifts at Silver Star, the Smith Helmet Canvas Challenge will see the public vote for their favourite.
Smith Optics has donated the helmets, which artists have created custom paintings on.
"This medium, the surface, the materials, and the perspective will be challenging. What will it look like from a distance? With goggles? With snow?...kind of interesting to know that it won't be stationary," said artist K. Farrell.
Vaz Art also found it to be an interesting challenge: "Preparing the helmet surface for paint was a bit tough. I had a lot to learn. I had to be more loose with my style and I enjoyed that."
The other artists are Jayden Vinje, Renata Escodro and Tanya Lipscomb.
The helmets will be auctioned, with half the proceeds going to Silver Star Adaptive Sports programs and the remaining proceeds to the artist.
The completed helmets are on show at the Artists' Lounge Gallery in the village until April 4 with Voter's Choice taking place as well as the silent auction.
The auction ends Friday, April 4 at 4 p.m., after which the votes will be counted and winners announced during the On the Dome Party, which is underway from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on the deck with live music.
