The final two official weekends of summer are expected to draw thousands of people to Penticton, both indoors and outdoors.
From Vancouver Canucks training camp to SummerCamp Ribfest, there's no shortage of events and activities to enjoy from Sept. 13 to 22.
In a press release on Sept. 12, city officials said residents can expect large crowds across Penticton, as visitors arrive and attend their respective events.
"Anyone travelling downtown should anticipate extra congestion, particularly on Saturday around lunchtime during the Penticton FarmersÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™ Market," the release reads, referencing the inaugural SummerCamp Ribfest, set for Sept. 13 to 15 at Okanagan Lake Park.
Also this weekend is the Vancouver Canucks' Young Stars Classic, which brings top prospects from B.C.'s NHL team, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets under one roof at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
The Kettle Mettle Gravel Fondo also hits Penticton this weekend, with cyclists set to start their journey from Marina Way Park on Sept. 13. No road closures will be associated with this event, city officials said.
Next weekend, from Sept. 19 to 22, the Canucks' NHL roster will be in the Peach City for training camp.
The local fun continues past the official start of fall, with the Canadian Outrigger Distance Championships coming to Okanagan Lake on Sept. 28 and 29.
The annual Penticton Beer Run, meanwhile, returns on Oct. 5. Featuring breweries from across the South Okanagan, the event marks the start of Penticton Beer Week every year.
