The Salmon Arm Art Gallery will be featuring the works of fierce female artists in an exhibition recognizing women who overcame adversity.

In Dialogue with the Collection: Fierce Female Artists, opens at the gallery on Saturday, March 29.

"The Community Art Collection holds the works of over 100 artists spanning nearly 70 years. Of the many women artists represented in the collection, Vivian Lindoe, Chris Czajkowski, Mary Thomas, Delores Purdaby, Alice Montjoy and Faye Fawcett are being recognized for facing and overcoming significant barriers and challenges," explained curator Tracey Kutschker in a media release. "The Arts Council wishes to highlight the lives and artistic achievements of these women by asking local artists to respond to their works."

Local artists Lou Conron, Destanne Norris, Carol Schlosar, Heather Yip, Diane Akey, Jennifer Chernecki, Spud Barker, and Lisa Figueroa respond to the works in their own mediums. In addition, a community collaborative by more than 50 people honours Faye Fawcett with a garden of Flowers for Faye.

An opening reception will take place between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the gallery on March 29. The Coffee Break and Artist Talk is on Thursday, April 17 beginning at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11a.m. to 4 p.m., with admission by donation.
