Throughout the community there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people who give their time to help others.
Each volunteer helps in so many ways. And Every Moment Matters, the theme for this year㽶Ƶֱs National Volunteer Week, April 14 to 20.
The city of Vernon is thanking all of those who, through volunteering, help make Vernon an incredibly special place to live, work, explore and play.
Hundreds of volunteers also help the city of Vernon on a regular basis, in a variety of capacities.
These volunteer contributions help make some programs possible in areas such as Emergency Support Services, Protective Services and Community Safety, RCMP crime prevention, recreation services, and council committees. This is in addition to all the volunteers who serve on various community boards, planning committees for arts, cultural and sporting activities, with non-profit organizations, with social service programs, and much more.
㽶ƵֱI believe that volunteering contributes to the lifeblood of our community,㽶Ƶֱ said mayor Victor Cumming. 㽶ƵֱThank you to all volunteers for your unwavering commitment and for embodying the true spirit of service. It is through the selfless dedication of volunteers that we strengthen the bonds of our community.㽶Ƶֱ
Since 1977, Volunteer Canada has worked closely with volunteer centres, businesses, non-profit organizations, government, and educational institutions to promote volunteerism and provide research, tools and resources.
