A Salmon Arm farmer is squashing hunger with a massive donation to Okanagan food banks.

Nick Parsons had more hybrid spaghetti squash crossed with zucchini than he knew what to do with. He enlisted the help of his daughter to find takers on social media.

Dave Johnston found the listing and made two trips with a cargo trailer and large orchard bins to bring the produce to the organizations that need it.

The farmer donated an estimated 3,000 pounds of the veggie to food banks and meal prep kitchens, including the Lake Country Food Bank, the Central Okanagan Food Bank, the West Kelowna Food Bank, and four food outlets in Penticton.
