Kids in Vernon had a happy Halloween thanks to the ever popular treat trail.
The Downtown Vernon Association's 2024 Treat Trail saw kids and their parents don creative costumes and head down 30th Avenue and a few adjacent streets Thursday, Oct. 31. On from 3-5 p.m., it was a great-warm-up for kids 12 and under to fill their bags before possibly hitting the neighbourhoods in the later hours of the night.
Close to 50 downtown businesses and organizations took part in the trail, eagerly handing out candy to the little ones.
Three trick-or-treaters, Frank Gombik and Lincoln and Murphy Lukinuk, took a break from the trail at The Kal, emptying their candy hauls onto the table for inspection.
All three had a great time on the trail, though Gombik was a bit cross at having come a little unprepared.
"Do not bring a bag this size," he admonished, holding up a medium-sized bag that he said was filled to the brim with candy in no time. Next year he'll be sure to bring a bag big enough to serve all of his trick-or-treating ambitions.
The Downtown Vernon Association has put on the treat trail for a number of years, and typically sees more than 1,000 kids take part.
