PHOTOS: Kelowna family raises over $100k in 12 years for the cure

The CIBC Run for the Cure was held in City Park on Oct. 6

The CIBC Run for the Cure saw nearly 500 people gather in Kelowna City Park the morning of Oct. 6.

Jennifer Moffatt and family have participated every year for the past 12 years in memory of her mom Teece.

"My brother passed away as well this year," Moffatt said tearing up. "Kyle was here every year, so now we remember them both. We've now raised in that 12 years $109,000."

Teece's Troops raised over $11,000 for the run this year, surpassing funds raised by Team CIBC Kelowna ($9,100) and claiming the top fundraising team.

"This year was my best year. I raised $8,500 this year." Moffatt was the top fundraiser at the Kelowna event.

The day started at 8:30 a.m. with registration, opening statements, a moment to honour the cancer survivors taking part in the day, and stretches to warm up the muscles.

Participants had the choice between a one or five kilometre route starting at 10 a.m.

The Kelowna Run for the Cure raised over $126,000 this year for breast cancer research.
