Penticton radio station looks to raise $20K during 'OnAirversary'

A special 12-hour broadcast is set to coincide with the volunteer-run station's largest fundraiser of the year

CFUZ 92.9 FM is looking to punctuate its continued growth this weekend as it celebrates another year on the air and wraps up celebrating the 2025 Penticton Community Radio Week.

The independent, volunteer-run station is marking six years on the FM dial on Saturday, Feb. 8, with its annual "OnAirversary" fundraiser, and hoping to raise $20,000 in the process.

Funds will go toward Peach City Radio's operations and ongoing expansion 香蕉视频直播 including doubling studio capacity 香蕉视频直播 and "creating a new flex room for volunteer collaboration and adding a dedicated transmitter/computer room to enhance broadcast reliability," the station said.

A live 12-hour broadcast will coincide with this weekend's celebration. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Festivities will proceed after Penticton Mayor Julius Bloomfield proclaimed Feb. 2 to 8, as Penticton Community Radio Week.

Donations in support of Peach City Radio will be accepted all day. People can donate by calling 236-422-0929 or in person at the station, which is located inside the Cannery Trade Centre on Fairview Rd. 

In the past, donations for "OnAirversary" have come in from as far as Ontario. A $20,000 fundraiser goal has been set this year.

"OnAirversary is not just a celebration of our station香蕉视频直播檚 milestones, it香蕉视频直播檚 a chance for the community to invest in its future," Thompson said.

Guests on Saturday will also be able to tour the studio and meet the volunteers who help bring the station's programming to life, as they make in-person donations.

Donations in support of CFUZ will also be accepted

The event marks the station's most significant fundraiser of the year.

"Community radio brings forth the diversity in sounds and voices for people to discover something new and something familiar," said Pierre Davidson, a longtime volunteer at CFUZ 92.9 FM and host of A Progressive Life 香蕉视频直播 Une Vie Progressive.

People can stream the station's special broadcast 

On the FM dial, the station can be heard from Oliver to Peachland.

Local businesses have also donated items to help bring together an in support of the station's fundraising efforts. It runs from Feb. 6 to 8.
